About Us

We know that the decision to place a loved one in an elder care facility is never easy. You're overwhelmed with mixed emotions, the primary one being guilt. We want you to get rid of it. You can rest assure that your parent, grandparent or other elderly relative is receiving top-notch care in an environment that's more like home.

Located in the quiet neighborhood on the East side of Oahu, we strive to provide a safe and enriching environment for your loved one. Founded in 1957, by Frank and Harue Ono, it began as a private care home for six residents. It was in 1965, when the couple decided on a major expansion to 31 beds. Today, we provide individualized services to 40 residents.

In Hawaiian, Hale Malamalama means “House of Light.” It reflects our mission to provide the highest level of quality care. Every team member works hard to create an atmosphere that respects and promotes our resident’s needs and comfort. While our staff are directly responsible for every aspect of care, they work collectively to provide 24-hour services for our residents.

Our outdoor patio provides you and your loved one a quiet place to talk story and relax under the warm sun.
